We have just been informed that Canada Post proposes new postage rates effective May 6, 2024. The price of domestic stamps could increase to 99 cents per stamp, up by 7 cents.

This tidy little price hike comes after years of stability, with minor increases in 2019 and 2020. The reason? Rising costs and declining letter volumes.

Moreover, small businesses might see a rise of $12.07 annually (based on average annual spending); however, Canada Post aims to minimize the impact and offers support through their Small Business™ program.

Permanent™ stamps might remain unaffected, providing stability amidst changes.

What we know so far is that the proposed rates might also affect other products like U.S. and international letter-post. As an example, the price of a single stamp for a domestic letter may rise to $1.15.
