We have all been there. We have an item we want to ship, but are unsure of how it should be sent – should it be First-Class Mail® or Priority Mail®? What are the main differences?
Below is a comparison between them, as the choice between the two will more than likely come down to weight, requirements and delivery time.
Scenario Breakdown
- If you want to send an item under 13 oz. and of lesser value, that does not need to be insured, and does not need to arrive at a location at a specific date or time – First-Class Mail is your best bet. First-Class Mail pricing is often the most affordable option.
- If you want to send an item over 13 oz. and of a higher value, that you would like insured, to a location within 1-3 days – Priority Mail is the service to go with. Priority Mail pricing is slightly more expensive than First-Class Mail.
What is First-Class Mail®?
- First-Class Mail is for standard-sized, single-piece envelopes/postcards (up to 3.5 oz.) and large envelopes/small packages (up to 13 oz.).
